THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

Putting on our serious hat (but wearing it slightly off to the side so you know we’re still cool)! The Room For Light (RFL) Executive Board is both a governance and working board. This means that in addition to being a representative of RFL, board members provide direction, guidance, and oversight of the operations and activities of RFL. The Board supports the work of RFL and provides mission-based leadership, strategic governance, and financial support. Board members advocate for our mission and needs in their own community and various networks.

The Ideal Executive Board Member

We are specifically seeking individuals who may have experiences or skills in the following areas:

  • Financial Sustainability 

  • Donor and Fund Development

  • Strategic partnerships and community engagement

Member Expectations

  • Commit to serving at least 1 year as an Executive Board (EB) member

  • Attend Board Meetings every other month

  • Responsible for hosting 1 self-led fundraising event a year (happy hour, trivia night, bingo, pickleball tournament, etc.) 

  • Support in planning and hosting our annual fundraising/end of year celebration

  • Commit to give/get of $2500 a year (ideally via self-led fundraising event)

  • Attend at least 1 RFL event a quarter

  • Collaborate with RFL staff on a Strategic Plan and evaluate adherence and progress on a regular basis

  • Provide attentive financial oversight. Set and approve RFL’s annual budget and track financial performance on a regular basis

Yearly Commitment Summary

  • Be present at 6 meetings

  • Host 1 Event

  • Attend 4 happy hour style events/yr.

THE ASSOCIATE BOARD

COMING TO YOU SPRING 2025!

The Room For Light (RFL) Associate Board is a cohort of community-oriented people who serve as our ambassadors and work together to promote our mission. The RFL Associate Board members help raise funds and awareness for the organization by utilizing their own expertise, creativity, personal and professional networks. The Associate Board’s goal is to further the organization’s mission through engagement, volunteerism, and fundraising.

The Ideal Associate Board Member

We are looking for members coming from diverse backgrounds, careers, skill areas and fields. No previous experience in the mental health sector or the nonprofit world is required. If you are passionate about mental health, creating community and believe in the art and power of storytelling, we would love to meet you.

Member Expectations

Commit to serving at least 1 year as an Associate Board (AB) member

  • Attend 75% of AB meetings every year (which take place every other month)

  • Responsible for hosting 1 self-led fundraising event a year (happy hour, trivia night, bingo, pickleball tournament, etc.) 

  • Support in planning and hosting our annual fundraising/end of year celebration

  • Commit to a raise $1000 a year (ideally via self-led fundraising event)

  • Attend at least 5 events a year + the year end annual fundraising celebration

Yearly Commitment Summary

  • Be present at 6 meetings

  • Host 1 Event

  • Attend 5-10 happy hour style events/yr.
